Can agriculture provide therapeutic benefits to veterans? Yes, and it’s happening at the V.A. Health Care System in Pineville, Louisiana. In a one-of-its-kind partnership, the V.A. facility has joined with the Natural Resources Conservation Service of Louisiana to create three therapy gardens on the property. Veterans receiving long-term care; on-site mental health services and Alzheimer’s patients enjoy the hope that gardening brings as well as the literal fruits of their labor.
A one-of-its-kind partnership between Alexandria VA Health Care System in Alexandria, Louisiana and the Louisiana Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) provides veterans therapy through three fruit and vegetable gardens on the property.
