A U.S. Veteran Explain Life as a Queer Woman in the Marines
Kane Andrade served as not only a woman, but also a queer person in the military. Recalling on the time she spent in the United States Marine Corps, she says she was always told that the military was not a place for a queer woman like herself and that her worth would always be considered less than a man.
Even so, Kane stayed positive and now incorporates her experiences in the Marines into her work as a 3D animator.
“Women are really underrepresented in the military and I think it’s important for me to represent them in this way and to tell my story and what I went through,” she says.
